Its that time of year folks – training time!! Thank goodness we are the trainers and not the trainees this time!!! HAHA
We are now at home for good – minus a couple of vacations!! We are so glad to be home! Traveling is good and fun and all (and definitely more exciting with a 3 month old) but nothing beats your own bed!!
So back to what we are doing now – TRAINING. It starts June 1st and will end August 30th. Jeremy has pretty much given the training over to Adam and is letting him be in charge and make the decisions, etc. So we are excited and nervous. Jeremy will still be around to help and give advice - and he will be teaching some of the harder classes so that is great. We will be having the training on the same land that we had ours - which is great because it is free :) But our budget is pretty slim on providing for the guys while they are in training (as far as food, travel to outlying communities etc). So we will be trying to manage the money we have as best we can and pray that it will make it till the end!
Before we came home we had our yearly team meeting – it was so awesome to se everyone and hear how their year in ministry has progressed. It was a great time of encouragement and inspiration.
So, we have a few prayer requests that we would like you guys to pray in regard to the guys coming to the training and for them and the trainers during the training.
Please pray that guys will come to the training – right now we have 2 or 3. We would love to have at least 4 but its definitely quality not quantity.
- Pray that those who need to be here would listen to the Lord’s voice and His call on their lives – and that they will have safe travel.
- Pray that our money will stretch and that we will have enough to cover all the necessary expenses.
- Pray also for Adam as this is the first training that he is leading - that he will be confident and have strength as he pours his life into these guys.
During the training (especially the first few weeks because it is TOUGH) :
Pray that they will have a burning passion for evangelism, discipleship and missions.
Pray that they will discern God’s personal vision for their life and ministry.
Pray that God will use them as a vessel of honor in service for His Kingdom.
Pray that they are protected from Satan in each area of their lives – physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.
That God would send angels to surround and bear them up when they struggle.
That they will prosper in all things and be in good health.
Pray that the will walk daily filled with all the fullness of Christ.
Pray that there would be unity among the guys in the training and that they would be peacemakers and contribute to a positive loving atmosphere as they learn about the Lord and how to story and reach the indigenous.
Pray that they will be able to endure hardships and trials with patience and strength and that they will suffer attack and persecution with grace and rejoicing.
We realize that these are a lot of prayer requests but this training is vital to us because hopefully at least two of these guys will remain on our team and help us in reaching the Huitoto. Please commit with us to pray for them and for this training in these next three months.
We love you guys so much and will continue to update you as the training progresses. Here are some pics of our family and of the team!!

Hey Jess, You do not know me but I have been reading you since you were at language school in Guatemala. Rocky and I are a masters couple and when we told that we would be going to Guatemala for language I found your blog and began following your experiences. I did not know that I would have 2 close friends attend the same type of training as you. They are Corey and Landon andn Corey will be living with and near us as he seeks to reach the Shuar of southern Ecuador. I just wanted to let you know how amazed at how you have done in the jungle through everything. Pregnancy and giving birth and now living and traveling wiyh a small baby in tough situations. I sure admire you. Praying for you all and the upcoming training.
Hope all goes well! I will be praying for you guys!
