XGM & Vacation to Cusco

I don’t think that either of us had ever been so excited to go to a meeting, but after our crazy trip to Lima we were both ready to relax, sit and listen to our team share of the past year and enjoy for the first time the benefits of child care J

And it was a great time of rejoicing, encouragement and catching up with team members we hadn’t seen since the previous year.  It was a unique meeting though, because we had to say goodbye to our boss Jeremy and his family. Jeremy and Susan helped start the Xtreme team some 10 years ago and so it was a bittersweet time of memories and hopes for the future.

After the meeting we had our first family vacation to Cusco!! We have traveled as a family – to visit family, which is always super fun – but this was our first trip as the Huser’s and we had a blast J Adam had already been to Cusco and Machu Picchu a few times but I had never been (nor had Sophia, haha). I was so ready to be cold and enjoy the mountains!! We arrived in the morning at our hotel and after all the traveling and meetings decided to just take it easy and rest up. We ventured out for some Italian food for dinner and went to bed early.

The following morning I woke up to Adam throwing up in the bathroom L OH NO! I was so disappointed because in all honesty – what I was most looking forward too (as a very pregnant woman) was the free continental breakfast!!! I had been dreaming of meat/cheese trays – fresh fruit – coffee and pastries all night long … so instead of thinking, poor Adam, my first thought was – how am I going to get down to breakfast!? Sophia woke up about that time and after about 30 minutes she was also hungry – so I told Adam just to rest and we would go down to breakfast alone… He felt awful making me go down with Sophia alone though and said he felt ok and could join us – so we all went downstairs.

We had just got Sophia secured in her fabulous cloth highchair that Grandma had made when SHE threw-up!!! OH NO! Since she normally doesn’t throw-up and she had a runny nose I figured she probably just needed food in her stomach so I got her some papaya and as Adam fed it to her I loaded up my plate. I had just sat down and was about to bite into my yummy breakfast when Sophia threw-up again … except this time it was very orange and papaya like J oops. So we decided we should just go back up stairs and cut our losses!! We spent the rest of the day in the hotel as Sophia and Adam tried to recuperate. But it was still fun – we hadn’t just laid around and relaxed for a long time and by the next morning everyone was in tiptop shape J

We spent the rest of our time there buying souvenirs, eating at yummy restaurants, taking pictures and visiting Machu Picchu (I will say that we got some serious stares while hiking up Machu Picchu … its not very normal, apparently, to take a baby and pregnant woman up that high to hike … especially when Adam ended up carrying Sophia in her stroller up tons and tons of stairs, haha! But it made the memories even more hilarious and memorable!)

We had such a good time that we hated to leave – but I think its better that way, because now we want to take another family vacation instead of regretting ever going in the first place J
