The Good, The Bad & The Hilarious...

Hello from the Huser’s!  It’s been a ridiculous amount of time since we have written on here so we figured it was about time for an update.   We are all doing good, especially Jess and the baby.  We found out a couple of weeks ago that we are having a girl!  I’m relieved and excited because Samuel is seriously a hand full … and I wasn’t sure if I could handle another boy. Haha.
Jess at 23 weeks

For example: On Sunday, Sam and I went four-wheeler riding in the rain and we got all muddy - Sam loves riding through the mud.  Of course, when we got home we got cleaned up and then I sat down to rest upstairs. (meanwhile Jess had been cooking and cleaning up lunch so she was tired too…. ) Sooo we told Sam and Sophia to stay downstairs and play ….
A little while later we hear Sophia yelling ‘Daddy, daddy Sammi pooped!” ….not really the words you want to hear….
I (Adam) ran downstairs and sure enough, there was Sam holding his hot wheel cars in each hand and they were covered in poop … and there were poop tracks all over the floor!!!!!!!
Apparently, he was mudding with his hot wheel cars…  that took a few hours to clean up.   I’m so glad we are having anther girl!
Sam did turn 2 in May!! These are the hot wheel cars.... of course this was before the 'poop' incident :)

The last time I wrote, I told you about our first boat (that James and I made) and about the start of building our house out in Shakay.  Since then, we have had an awesome group of guys come down from Fort Smith, AR to help work on the house!  We had a really good time and were able to get the house pretty much done.

Finished House :)
We still lacked putting in some windows, a few doors, a sink and a toilet with the septic system (for some reason Jess doesn’t want to squat over a hole while pregnant to use the bathroom….she is losing her edge).
Last month, however, my good friend Matt Ogden came down to help finish.   Which was a blessing and an adventure – for those of you who don’t know …. any time Matt and I get together crazy stuff usually happens.

We are still diligently looking and hoping to get a new motor, but we were able to go ahead and buy a new boat … So, for the maiden voyage we just decided to use the homemade 18 HP motor (since it was our only option).   I might add that the new boat is 3 times bigger than the old one AND we were loaded down with lots of supplies like a toilet and all the supplies to put running water in the house.  The good thing was the water level was way down.   So that was in our favor.
The other good thing is that Matt is in good shape and is good at jumping out of a boat (at least he is now). Let’s just say he had to jump out a lot and push and pull the boat up the rapids.   I almost sunk the boat at one point because I got it turned sideways in a rapid and filled it with water.   It took us over 6 hours to make it to Shakay, but we did make it and had a good time doing it.
However, we came to the conclusion that I shouldn’t try going up with Jess and the kids until we get a bigger motor.  We were really successful in Shakay and were able to get the septic system mostly in and all the plumbing done – almost anyways…  We lacked a few fittings and elbows and pipes and stuff like that but its mostly done….
(ok, so this is Jess – reading the post I am wondering - if it still lacks elbows and pipes and ‘stuff’ then what is actually put together!??? Hmmm, I think I am a little worried….)
This is Adam again, and what I meant was…well, it really isn’t put together so good – but it’s because I had to buy each little part at a different store and they are ‘supposed’ to be for our ‘toilet’ but in reality when I was hours away in the community it really wasn’t true – so I had to come back to Zamora and re-buy different odd shaped parts - fun.

The communities were celebrating Mother's Day while Matt and I were there so we were able to have lunch with everyone....

This is lunch....its a rodent of some kind

Our trailer mishap... Matt and I were driving home, taking the borrowed trailer back to it's owner's in Zamora... when all of a sudden I didn't see it behind me. I look out the driver's side window to see it flying past us - literally! It should have gone off this cliff (below) but somehow veered right and landed in this dirt pile....go figure.

On another note, Jess was able to go and visit her sister Sarah and her husband, Jon, in the states and meet their new little baby, Parker. She had a great time visiting although me and the kids missed her pretty bad.
Daddy bought presents to keep the kids entertained :)

Then last week we had to go to the capital and get our visa work done so we could stay in the country another year. Everything went quite smoothly until we headed home.  We were just an hour away from our house, in a town called Loja, and there had been a landslide. We were stuck there for 3 days...
...this is Jess again… of course I had packed the least amount of clothes for everyone because I wanted to buy fun stuff for the baby in the capital so we just had a suitcase full of dirty snotty clothes …. The kids had both been sick….good times.
So we were walking around Loja the second day … bored and trying to waste time (being in a small room with a 3 year old and a 2 year old gets really challenging) and the kids and Jess found a pet store ….  So, you can guess what happened - I ended up with a dog for Father’s Day!
Cause that’s just what I needed…  in our hotel room, and guess what kind of dog it is?????  It’s a French Poodle, named Oreo. Yeah, true story. So, any shred of manly reputation I had just went out the window.
Not only that, but we had to sneak it into our hotel room and keep it quiet all night… I haven’t had a complete nights sleep since…
Jess says its getting me ready for the baby. I was kind of planning on sleeping a lot before the baby got here … but who needs sleep?   If we were honest, sleeping in definitely ended as soon as Sophia was born…. Until then, I had never drank coffee before, and now I drink the stuff all day long.
So, all that to say that our ministry is going well and we are thankful to be home in Zamora. We are all headed up to Shakay next week to spend about 7 days in our new house!   We are excited, and don’t worry, I’m renting a boat until we get a motor for ours.
Pray for us as we spend some time getting to minister in the community for the first time as a family.   Thank you so much for your prayers!
