Week 3

As week three has come and gone we are finally getting into a bit of a routine. It is slow in coming but as the guys are adjusting to living in the jungle, we are adjusting to teaching, helping and working out with them… well only Adam is working out with them J haha! I am sorry that this weeks update is late but I have had a cold and my head was to fuzzy to type anything coherent J

So this week was quite fun….well after they survived Monday!! Here is what was on the agenda …
©     Story test on the Fall of Man
©     Spiritual Disciplines: Fasting & Studying
©     Team Building
©     5 Steps of Storying
©     Using Objects & Stations in your story
©     Learned the Story of Cain and Abel & the Story of Noah
©     First Aid: Burns & Bites/Shock & Diarrhea and they were given their own First Aid Kit
©     Luke 10
©     Virtual Missions (which is when we act out everything that could possibly go wrong in a village and see their responses/reactions) It usually involves really unfortunate food to eat … amongst other things!

The guys really grew from Monday to Sunday.  The week started out with their story test and unfortunately they didn’t have it memorized and that was hard.  The next morning Juan wasn’t feeling well and was considering going home – this was really hard for us because we obviously want him to stay and really think he could succeed and do great things.  But we got him to the doctor and found out that he had pulled a few muscles in his back – we were relieved that it wasn’t anything worse!! The guys pulled his weight in their morning exercises so that he could sit out and recuperate.

Sophia and I were able to go out twice this week – which was fun for us.  I helped Adam teach the story of Noah and we went and watched Virtual Mission’s day.  The guys did really well with their virtual missions and most ate the icky food J They went out to the communities on Friday morning and came back on Sunday.

They were a little nervous I think but were excited to get to use some of the stuff that they had learned.  Nester and Juan went up river and Felix, Pedro and Eliseo went down river.  They all had really good experiences and Nester and Juan were even able to share a few stories!!

On Friday all of the teachers went to the pool with the kids.  It was Sophia’s first time in the water – and she loved it!!! We had a really good week – even though it started out a little rough, it really ended on a good note and I think the guys are slowly growing accustomed to their new ‘lifestyle’ here with us!!

Prayer Requests For This Week
©     A quick recovery for Juan’s back – also, Nester twisted his ankle and stepped on a nail – so please pray for his recovery as well.
©     Pray that they would be united as a team and would encourage one another through their individual struggles.
©     Corey, Rachael and Fisher made it here safely! Please pray for them as they begin working with the team. Having an 8 month old makes it very challenging.
