Catch Up Time!!! Hold on to your Hats :)

Where to even begin!? There was a reason that I was trying to update the blog weekly … because life is CRAZY!!! But at the same time  - life happens and its so hard to get things done that you want!! ESPECIALLY with a 4 almost 5 month old (who at this moment is screaming her little head off, yay)! We have had a very good but crazy busy last few weeks – I will try and make it as short and sweet as possible … with some fun pics in between!!

Sophia loved the bassinet on the plane - and so did Adam and I !!!

yes ... those are sheep in the background - that stroller has been places it never dreamed of :)

Mr. & Mrs. Gee with little Sophia

First of all, after some serious issues with passport control in Lima (who knew you had to have both passports for a child with duel citizenship….) – we finally made it to London to see my family and it was so much fun! It was so great to see everyone and Sarah, Jon and Emily were finally able to meet our precious Sophia. Oh how she loved her aunts and uncle!!! (and her grandparents too of course!!)  It was so hard to pick out pictures – because we have almost 500!!!! Maybe later we will post the awesome ones of London Bridge, Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Notre Dame, etc. But we figured the ones of Sophia and the fam were most important this go around!!!

Grandpa & Sophia shopping for fun goodies to take home!!!

YUMMMMM

Aunt Emily feeding Sophia while we had cupcakes and tea!!!

We had a blast traipsing around London and even Paris for a day! It is a beautiful place and we loved every minute of it.  Adam had the privilege of pushing/carrying/lugging our awesome stroller all over England and France … through subways, train stations and up and down all types of stairwells … even pastures! Haha.

Grandma & Sophia

The trip home was a bit grueling, complete with cancelled flights – a lost stroller – displaced seats which gave us the pleasure of holding Sophia during the 12 hour flight from Madrid to Lima (of which she didn’t sleep a wink!) and then more issues with passport control …  we finally arrived home to find that we had been without power for several days … everything in the fridge had rotted amongst other things and to top it off Alias, our dog, had been attacked by the neighbors dogs and while trying to escape got all tangled up in a barb wire fence. Fortunately though, after several days, Alias began to heal and mend and they finally figured out our power problem!!

Sophia loves sightseeing!!!

The Whole Family!!!

This past week we were able to catch up with the guys and slowly things are returning to normal. YAY. The guys did exceptional while we were gone.  We were able to send the guys out in pairs to several villages quite a distance away for almost a week – and it went extremely well. Two out of three groups had very positive experiences and one group actually had 2 people come to Christ!! The third group had a rough time because they were unable to find anyone who was interested in hearing what they had to say – and that is hard.  But they aren’t getting caught up in being discouraged and instead are excited to try a new place next time.

Felix & Eliseo getting ready to hike to the river!

the whole crew hiding in the bushes :)

catching fish ... fresh meat is always better than beans and rice!!

The guys didn’t go out to the communities last weekend because we have been teaching some very heavy classes about the church.  They are very attached to their traditions and so this week was mostly about tearing down those traditional ‘walls’. It was really hard for them to hear but they have respond remarkably well and the Lord is growing them like crazy.  This week will be awesome because they are learning the good meaty stuff that will replace all the empty traditions. We are really excited to see them put two and two together!

the classroom -- isn't it lookin fancy now!

while hiking the guys found suri ... huge grub worms -- they like them ALOT (i on the other hand am not a big fan) either way ... as you can see they found and ate quite a few!!!

team building exercises

An added bonus this week has been the weather! Which is something I truly never thought that I would say here in the jungle! BUT we have had weather in the 60s for the past 5 days! Today the sun is out and I think it will start warming up – but it has been so amazing to be outside and not sweat to death!!!

more team building exercises ... i am not actually sure what they are doing ... i would ask adam  but he is asleep so make your best guess :)

.... and more ....

the trust game -- hard core version

Now that we are home we will continue with our weekly updates as promised!! Please continue to pray fervently for the guys as the Lord is working through them and breaking down barriers of all shapes and sizes – they have all been having bad dreams in which Satan is trying to drive fear into their hearts, so please just pray for strength and protection from the enemy. Especially as the classes this week are the most important and we only have about 5 weeks left of training!!!

We love you guys & as always you are such a blessing to our team and to our family!!!

a family affair -- with the awesome weather, everyone wanted to come to class :)

all bundled up --- the guys thought it might snow, they were so cold!!

the weather didn't phase the fearless leader

Good stuff, guys! Thanks for the update, Jess. I think London is the meet-up place of choice for our entire FPO! We went there last September and so I can empathize about hauling the stroller up and down stairs for the TUBE. I did it like 4,000 times for my granddaughter ... BUT worth it!

How fun! We are so excited that you got to see your family and get everyone together. It looks like everyone enjoyed each other and loved taking their turns with Sophia. I am sure it was a nice break from everything for a while. Oh how we wish we could be in the states in a couple of months to see you too!!! Love you guys!
