Normal Life

The most common question asked of us, as a family living overseas, is: “What is your typical day like?” This is an excellent question, however, the answer is not so easy… daily life here in Peru is – well its unpredictable!! To explain this though – I will give you a detailed account of our last month and a half (in separate daily blog posts – so not to overwhelm, haha). But to prepare you for what is to come – here is the overview J

Mid February my (Jess’s) parents came to visit for two weeks to celebrate Sophia’s first birthday (YAY!). While they were here our boss got a severe infection in his leg and after being in the ER for a week had to fly to Lima for surgery (this of course happened while his pregnant wife and two sick children were at home trying to pack up their stuff, sell all their belongings and move back to the states). Since they are leaving South America their truck needed to be sent back to Lima – they had planned on doing this but with the emergency surgery they weren’t going to be able to – so Adam and I volunteered.

We put the truck on a launcha 7 days up river to Pucallpa – where we flew to pick it up – then we had to drive it over the mountains (which is usually a 2 day drive) to Lima. We arrived just in time for our annual team meeting and then went on a 5-day vacation to Cusco. While at our team meeting, our new boss, Trent Jones, and Adam decided that after our vacation we would meet them back in Lima and travel together to Cepawa for an investigative trip. (Since Trent and Kay and their two children live in Bolivia this was the best time to go). Cepawa is a small town that we are hoping to move to next term. We wanted to see if both of our families could live there and engage a people group close by… Lets keep in mind that during all of this I am 28-33 weeks pregnant and we have a one year old J let the stories begin…
