I love the sounds of our child sleeping. Its just to bad that those sweet sounds are followed by all kinds of clattering as I quickly run about the house trying to finish, start and accomplish all that I can while she is asleep. Of course it never fails that as soon as I am done with all of my ‘work’ and get all snuggly and relaxed on my bed that she wakes up. Its as if me relaxing sets off some type of silent alarm in her brain that says, “Wake up now!” But how can you be frustrated when you open the door to her room and there she is standing up in her crib jumping up and down while holding onto the rail and grinning her little face off!? I am sure I will say this over and over again but it is truly amazing how quickly they grow! It just seems like yesterday that Sophia was born and now she is almost a year old and we have another one on the way!!!
She wants to walk so badly … she is quite the avid crawler already and is ‘bien traviesa’ which is ‘very mischievous’ already J The other day she was playing quietly in our room – I stepped across the hall to grab something when I heard splashing …. I look down the hall and Sophia has crawled into the guest bathroom and is playing in the toilet water!! All in a matter of seconds! (Don’t worry we keep the bathroom doors closed now at all times, haha) Such a mess!!
She loves to dance … even if its just you singing to her – if she hears a tune she is bouncing and swaying and shaking her head – it is absolutely adorable. We had dinner with some other missionaries a while back and they each have older girls. One is two and the other three – they were walking, running and playing and Sophia just sat and watched … she tried to crawl after them but they were just to fast – she looked so disappointed!! That very night when we got home she grabbed my hand and pulled herself up and started to try and walk on her own …. It was like she knew that was what was holding her back and she was gonna learn and learn now! It was hilarious. She is quite the determined little sucker.
This week our little boy has started kick boxing inside of me which is always fun!! Although it can be bothersome to be woken up in the middle of the night with leg cramps and being drummed upon from the inside, I love this stage of pregnancy. The 4th and 5th months always seem to drag to me because I feel ok and the baby is still to small to feel movement … if you weren’t growing as big as a watermelon you would almost forget you were pregnant! But not to worry because he is just a movin and a grovin now J
Along with the crazy active movements of baby Huser we started the week by having our house broken into – always good times. We arrived home from church on Sunday to discover that the lock on our front gate had been cut and the gate left open ….. never a good sign. Adam got out of the car and peeked through the gate, and what do you know … our front door has a hole the size of Texas in it …. The little suckers had taken an axe to it and cut a hole right through the middle of the door! I guess they crawled through – took our computers and some other electronics and crawled back out. From what we can tell they locked Alias and Buddy (our oh so scary Great Danes…) off the front porch while they were ‘working’ and somehow escaped unscathed (most likely the dogs new them L so unfortunate). Of course we notified the police … they came and checked out the damage - said, ‘sorry’ and went on their way … gotta love it. Thanks to our friends we now have a huge piece of plywood over our front door – it is quite lovely, if I don’t say so myself.
Adam and I decided that we needed cheering up – so when we went to the grocery store and saw that they were still selling turkey’s we decided to buy one and have Thanksgiving all over again J Food solves so many problems, haha. So I cooked all day on Wednesday and amazingly enough made an entire Thanksgiving meal all on my own J It definitely made things better – I was feeling so good in fact that I decided to let Adam trim my hair …. I know – what was I thinking!? I am standing in the shower facing the wall – and while inspecting the mold growing in the tile cracks I hear, “oh wow”. .. then, “oh no” … then “I might need to get my razor” … WHAT!! Of course the entire time he is just cracking up – so his hand is shaking and he is STILL cutting!!!! Oh my word – I said, Adam what are you doing to my hair – and he says, don’t worry I am going to fix it – it will look ok – I think ….. hahaha. I mean I really can’t be upset because I willing gave him scissors J (you would think that after almost 5 years of marriage I would have been smarter than that!!) So after lots and lots of cutting …. It is finally ‘fixed’. I now have a VERY short bob … I don’t look especially great with the bob haircut, but at least I still have hair….
What a week – and its only Friday (evil laugh) imagine what could happen over the weekend!?
