Hola Mis Amigos!!!
We have made it safe and sound ;) We arrived in San Juan del Obispo (which is about 5 miles outside of Antigua) on Friday about 3pm. We were taken to a central location in the small town where we met our individual families
(there are 6 other girls with us). Our family is wonderful!!
They are so happy, kind and they love to talk (only in Spanish of course!)
Our house is all open air - it is so cool. It is hard to explain without pictures but it is as though the living room is outside and then the bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms surround it. There are lots of flowers and plants everywhere. We have our own room and amazingly enough, it overlooks a volcano, it is gorgeous.
We start school tomorrow but I am really excited (which is a miracle!) But school will be such a necesity since no one speaks English. Which is overwhelming but so far I am hanging in their. Adam has been so patient and helpful - I don´t know what I would do without him.... and to think, it has only been two days! Adam has already bonded with the dad, whose name is Domi (short for Dominic) the mothers name is Orelia and they have three daughters, Monica, Barbara and Fatima and one son Samuel. They own land around San Juan on which they grow fruit, which they sell. I can´t remember the name of the fruit, but it is very tasty, small and orange!
So funny story, the first night we were here our family had a huge fiesta!! No lie, so we show up and the whole family is cleaning up the house: sweeping and moping and cooking so so much food. 35 people came! it was nuts. Of course they all spoke Spanish and since the house is outdoor we were eating outside! It was absolutely freezing! I just nodded and smiled alot :) haha. They cooked outside, it is basically like camping but the food was excellent!
Adam and I finally went to bed at 9pm we were exhausted, but apparently the party lasted until midnight!! Adam and I were so tired though we fell right asleep and didn´t hear a thing! haha. By the way, I slept in pants, a sweatshirt & a hat! Last night we had 4 blankets though and it was much better!! Our roof is tin so it leaks a bit, lol.
We have internet in Antigua which is a 30 min bus ride so we should be able to update you weekly, we will just have to see! I will attach pictures next time. Thanks so much for your prayers! We will start school tomorrow, it is from 8am-12.
Until Next Time,
Adam and Jess

Thanks for the word pictures! It will definitely NOT be cold where we are headed tomorrow ... near 95 degrees with 90% humidity. We love you guys and will be praying for you.
We are so happy that you get along so well with your national family!! It sounds so beautiful there, too... wish we could visit you in Guatemala! :)
We're so glad you made it there safe. What a relief after a year of paperwork and planning and praying and packing... you are finally out of the country (and you'll be in Peru before you know it!).
Thanks for keeping us updated. Hopefully you'll be able to do it weekly- we'll look forward all week to it! (no pressure!) Good luck with school! We love you and are praying for you!!
